Greater Bay Area cross-border employment scheme to become permanent
02:58

After a two-year trial run involving 2,000 job opportunities, the Hong Kong government says it will permanently implement the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme. New vacancies will be uploaded to the scheme website from March 20 for graduates to apply. Successful candidates will receive a monthly salary of no less than HK$18,000. Employers will receive a monthly allowance of HK$10,000 from the SAR government for each graduate they send to work on the mainland. That subsidy will last up to 18 months. Cross-border employment subsidies are seen as part of China's long-term strategy to build a global economic powerhouse on its southern shores. With borders now open, business insiders say they hope more young talent will come on board.
