Peruvian capital declares state of emergency following cyclone

The local government in Lima, Peru's capital, has declared a state of emergency after Cyclone Yaku triggered heavy rains and floods in the region. Several city streets were inundated, several residential buildings were destroyed, and landslides occurred in mountainous areas.

The local authorities have announced that as of March 13, 18 districts are under a 60-day state of emergency.
