The pools for the 2024 Paris Olympics men's and women's volleyball qualifying tournaments were confirmed by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) on Friday.

The Chinese women's national team will compete with Serbia, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Canada, the Czech Republic, Mexico and Ukraine in Pool A. The other two pools include the following teams:

Pool B: Japan, Brazil, Turkey, Belgium, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Peru

Pool C: Poland, Italy, USA, Germany, Thailand, Colombia, South Korea and Slovenia

China will host the men's qualifying tournament as well between September 30 and October 8. The Chinese men's national team will play Poland, Argentina, the Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, Belgium and Bulgaria in Pool C.

Brazil, Italy, Iran, Cuba, Ukraine, Germany, the Czech Republic and Qatar will compete in Pool A in Brazil.

Japan, USA, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt and Finland will play each other in Pool B in Japan.

There will be 12 teams each participating in the men's and the women's volleyball events in the Paris Olympics. France, as the host, are automatically qualified, leaving 11 berths for other teams to compete for. The top two teams of each pool in the qualifying tournaments will go to Paris.

The remaining five Olympic places will go to the top five unqualified teams in the FIVB world rankings after the end of the preliminary phase of the Volleyball Nations League 2024. The team(s) from a continent(s) without a qualified team(s) will qualify in preference.

China didn't qualify for the men's volleyball event in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The women's team competed in Tokyo, but failed to make it to the knockout stage. France and USA won the men's and the women's gold medals respectively in Tokyo.
