An ultra-high altitude wind farm in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has generated over 100 million kWh of electricity since it began operation in December 2021. With its wind turbine generators built at altitudes of 5,000 to 5,200 meters, the Comai Trigu Wind Farm in Trigu Township of Comai County is the highest of its kind in the world. Belonging to China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), it is the first wind power project that has been connected to the major power grid of Tibet, with a total installed capacity of 22 megawatts. Data shows that wind farms and solar power plants across the country have seen their total installed capacity exceed 700 million kilowatts, with 120 million kilowatts newly installed in 2022.
