The building of China's first domestically-made large cruise ship is an important step forward in national technological self-reliance, as the large cruise ship is the only type of advanced, high-value-added ship that China had not previously constructed. The process of building a large cruise ship is complicated and requires the assembly of millions of components. China's first locally-built cruise ship has more than 25 million components.

The total length of cables installed on the ship exceeds 4,300 kilometers and it weighs about 65,000 tonnes. In addition to the manufacturing challenges, large cruise ships have their own specific safety standards. A special redundant backup system has been designed for the liner to improve its safety performance. With a total length of 323.6 meters and a height of 70 meters, the ship can accommodate over 6,500 passengers. The ship has 40,000 square meters of public recreation areas, a number of restaurants, theaters, shopping areas, water parks, gyms and other recreational facilities.
