First commercial street in China tells tales of prosperity

Shenyang Middle Street, located at the center of Shenyang City, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, is the first commercial street in the country. The street was built in 1625. It is one of the ten famous commercial streets in China, spanning about 1,900 meters.

Shenyang Middle Street, located in the city's Shenhe District, has emerged as a local commercial area with unique characteristics that has gradually expanded over time. Shenyang Middle Street underwent another two years of renovation, adding a fresh chapter to its transformation and revealing a brand-new look to the public in 2020.

Featuring local specialties and a series of cultural tourist spots, it has several well-preserved ancient buildings with elegant architectural styles from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911.) The main street highlights the cultural style of that period, serving as a de facto time machine transporting tourists back through the ages.

The commercial street offers modern infrastructure and diverse activities for the public.
