At least seven people were killed and another 15 injured after an explosion in a clandestine fireworks workshop in the central Mexican state of Morelos on Monday.

"The explosion occurred inside a house where fireworks were made and stored clandestinely," State Coordination of Civil Protection Morelos said in a statement.

The explosion occurred in the town of Totolapan, about 80 km from national capital Mexico City.
