At least four people were killed and around 75 others injured following an earthquake that rocked parts of Afghanistan on Tuesday night, local Azadi Radio reported on Wednesday.

However, the number of casualties could rise as efforts to collect information from the provinces have been continuing.

The magnitude-6.9 earthquake jolted Afghanistan at 9:17 p.m. local time on Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

In neighboring Pakistan, at least 10 people were killed due to the earthquake, according to local media reports. Pakistan's Geo TV earlier said over 160 people were also injured.

Many provinces in Pakistan were affected by the quake and a number of buildings collapsed.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the National Disaster Management Authority and other institutions to be ready to deal with any emergency.
