The U.S. experienced more than 600 mass shootings in 2022, including 46 on school grounds. Among them, the Robb Elementary School shooting was the deadliest in the United States since 1999 when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire, killing 19 children and two adults at the elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022.
The case not only exposed the problem of America's gun violence and police system, but the professionalism of its law enforcement officers was also called into question. Public anger has been rising since the incident, with accusations of serious police negligence and a lack of adequate training.
Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw said it was a "systemic failure."
