Mainland criticizes DPP authorities for selling Taiwan's interest

The Chinese mainland on Wednesday criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities for selling the interest of the Taiwan region by honoring those who have touted a "plan for the destruction of Taiwan."

Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, slammed the DPP authorities when asked about the decoration of former U.S. National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien by Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen.

"If I remember correctly, this former senior White House official of the U.S. claimed not long ago that the U.S. would rather destroy Taiwan's semiconductor factories, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, or TSMC, than let them 'fall into the hands of the mainland,'" said Wang.

The fact that the DPP authorities award a decoration to those who trumpet the "plan for the destruction of Taiwan" shows that their claim of loving Taiwan is false, and what they are actually doing is selling Taiwan's interest, he said.
