China does not have a one-party system
01:35

Victor Gao Zhikai, a member of one of China's democratic parties, points out in CGTN's special report "People's Democracy" that few people in Western countries acknowledge that the Communist Party of China (CPC) is not the only political party in China. There are eight other democratic parties and a larger group of people called people without political affiliations. "For any political matter, which eventually is put into execution as a policy for example, they need to be vetted and eventually verified and endorsed and supported, not only by the CPC members, but all the other eight democratic parties, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and the group which we call the people without party affiliations."
