Beijing says ready to establish ties with Honduras on one-China principle
China is ready to establish bilateral relations with Honduras on the basis of the one-China principle, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing on Thursday.
Wang made the comments when asked about reports over a visit by Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina to China.
"Standing up for the one-China principle is the right thing to do," he said. "It has the overwhelming support of the international community and represents the trend of the world."
China welcomes the Honduran government's positive statement on developing relations with China and is willing to establish and develop bilateral relations with Honduras based on equality and mutual respect, said the spokesperson.
Last week, Honduran President Xiomara Castro expressed readiness to establish diplomatic ties with China.
