Finnish President Sauli Niinisto on Thursday signed a law on the country's accession to NATO, finalizing the ratification of its application to the alliance.

The president signed the bill on Thursday in Helsinki, after it was passed by the parliament earlier this month.

"I have now confirmed the laws regarding Finland's NATO membership approved by the parliament. Finland is ready to join the defense alliance NATO," Niinisto tweeted.

Turkish parliament's foreign affairs commission approved ratification of Finland's NATO bid, the public broadcaster TRT Haber reported on Thursday.
