China's socialist democracy outperforms American democracy in many ways, mainly because it can deliver better governance. Professor Zhang Weiwei, dean of the China Research Institute at Fudan University, told CGTN Radio's Xu Yawen in an interview. He said China's whole-process people's democracy is a combination of selective democracy and electoral democracy, which is more sophisticated than the Western procedural democracy. Zhang also noted that "good governance versus bad governance" is a more fitting political paradigm when considering the form of government than "democracy versus autocracy." China's achievements show that whatever the political system, it must all boil down to good governance.
