The European leaders said their banking sector is "resilient, with strong capital and liquidity positions," amid recent market turmoil after wrapping up a two-day summit in Brussels on Friday.

The EU leaders called for continued efforts to complete their Banking Union which helps strengthen the resilience of the EU banking system, according to a statement.
