Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, a New Zealand medical device producer, is building its first manufacturing base in China, having only ever produced in New Zealand and Mexico during its 50-year history. Explaining the reasons behind the decision, the company says they are attracted by the huge Chinese market, and most of the products made at the Chinese base will be sold in China.
