This year's Two Sessions saw calls for more carbon reduction projects. From top-level regulators to private companies, more groups are joining the cause. China is taking action as it pursues green development, the country's sights set on two main goals: a carbon emissions peak before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060. "Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage" will play an essential role in helping achieve both targets. At the CarbonX program launch meeting hosted by Tencent in Beijing, a number of CCUS projects involving experts, enterprises and capital from different disciplines were announced in a bid to boost the mechanism. CCUS technology and projects have been developing at a steady pace in China in recent years. But it is necessary to accelerate the supporting framework for it, such as carbon trading market and industry guidelines, to promote its development.
