China will maintain policy continuity and development stability, and provide new opportunities and energy to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang said on Monday.

He made the remarks during a speech on building a community with a shared future for mankind at the annual meeting of the China Development Forum, 2023 in Beijing.

Qin hailed the importance of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, saying that it provides guidance for China's diplomacy and it is an important pillar for maintaining world peace and stability and injected strong impetus for promoting global development.

The concept reflects the universal aspirations of the world's people and represents the right direction for the development and progress of human society, he said.

Regarding the Global Security Initiative (GSI), the foreign minister said it provides the right guidance for promoting the building of a world of lasting peace and universal security.

China will adhere to mutual respect, promote coordination and sound interactions among major countries, develop friendly cooperation with other countries to fully implement the GSI, and join hands with all parties to promote the construction of an international and regional security pattern that balances the aspirations and accommodates the interests of all parties, he added.

The concept of a community with a shared future for mankind also provides momentum for the world to overcome development difficulties, he said, adding that as China's huge market advantage and domestic demand potential continue to expand, it will certainly bring new and greater opportunities for the world's economic recovery and development.

China will continuously promote high-quality development and high-level opening-up, maintain the stable and smooth operation of the global industrial and supply chain, better promote cooperation on the Global Development Initiative, and generate the greatest synergy for developing countries to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Qin said.

He also vowed to continuously expand the representation and voices of developing countries in the international community, promote the development of global governance in a more fair and reasonable direction, and join hands with other countries to address global challenges.

Speaking of the Global Civilization Initiative, Qin said it emphasizes the need to jointly advocate respect for the diversity of civilizations. It also advocates the common values of all humankind, the importance of inheritance and innovation of civilizations, and robust international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. 

It provides important guidelines for promoting harmony, coexistence, mutual respect and understanding among civilizations, he added.

The foreign minister vowed that China will adhere to openness and inclusiveness, promote the common values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom for all mankind, join hands with all parties to implement the Global Civilization Initiative.
