In an interview with CGTN anchor Xu Qinduo, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana says that the economic take-off of the Asia-Pacific region over the past three decades has been driven by the development of trade and connectivity. Many countries in Southeast Asia are connected to China, and plans are underway to connect to Central Asia via China, which is unprecedented. The increased level of connectivity will have a multiplier effect and create economic benefits for regional development.
