Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday told International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva that the country is "full of confidence" in achieving the 2023 economic growth target.

China's economy has shown stabilization and a rebound trend since this year, Li noted during his meeting with the IMF chief in Boao, a coastal town in China's island province of Hainan.

Noting China's economy has a solid foundation, broad development prospects and a promising future, Li said the country will intensify efforts on macro control, focus on tapping consumption and investment potential, unswervingly expand opening-up, and steadily prevent and resolve risks.

"We have the confidence and ability to achieve the annual development goals and tasks," said Li.

The Chinese premier also emphasized the need for the international community to adhere to multilateralism and maintain the safe, stable and smooth flow of the global industrial and supply chain.

China is willing to continue to deepen cooperation with the IMF and promote the development of global governance in a more just and reasonable direction, he added.

Georgieva said that China's contribution to world economic growth is expected to exceed one-third this year.

The IMF appreciates China's adherence to multilateralism and its important contribution to the prevention of debt crises in developing countries, she noted, adding the IMF is ready to further deepen cooperation with China.
