Long Yongtu: Too late to decouple, U.S. should cooperate with China
02:14

Some analysts say that the U.S. is pushing other Western countries to exclude China from global production systems in three phases: trade war, decoupling and shaping of a new globalization trend. But can the U.S. – in this current multipolar world where global industrial, supply and value chains are deeply integrated – really succeed in decoupling China from everyone else?

Long Yongtu, China's former chief negotiator for entry into the World Trade Organization, said during the Boao Forum for Asia 2023, the size of the Chinese economy meant that one could not easily get away from it. It is too late to decouple with China, so it's better to just cooperate, he added.
