24-hour negative antigen tests required only for cross-Strait flights from April

People on both sides of Taiwan Strait will only need to provide 24-hour negative results of COVID-19 antigen tests instead of providing 48-hour negative results of nucleic acid tests before boarding cross-Strait direct flights from April 1, said a mainland spokesperson on Thursday.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks in a response to a press inquiry on whether the Chinese mainland will consider adjusting the rule that cross-Strait travelers need to take a nucleic acid test for COVID-19 within 48 hours prior to departure.

Passengers who have 24-hour negative antigen test results will fill in a health declaration card when entering and exiting customs, Zhu said.

As for the passengers who transit via Taiwan into the mainland, Zhu said they will still need to provide 48-hour negative results of nucleic acid tests at their place of departure.
