Official launch of multimedia campaign 'Cultural Journey through China and Spain' to enhance bilateral cooperation

Official launch of the multimedia campaign "Cultural Journey through China and Spain" kicks off in Beijing, China, March 30, 2023. /CMG

China Media Group (CMG) and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain officially launched the "China-Spain Cultural Journey" multimedia campaign on Thursday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain. 

The event aims to promote cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Spain, foster mutual appreciation of civilizations, deepen traditional friendship and enhance people-to-people contacts. 

Shen Haixiong, president of the China Media Group (CMG), Miquel Iceta, minister of Culture and Sports of Spain, Wu Haitao, ambassador of China to Spain, and Rafael Dezcallar, ambassador of Spain to China delivered speeches and jointly launched the multimedia campaign "Cultural Travel through China and Spain."

Shen said in his speech that the long-lasting, stable and diversified cooperation between China and Spain has provided an inexhaustible impetus to the modern development and opening-up of both countries. 

The multimedia campaign "China-Spain Cultural Journey" will review the history of China-Spain relations through documentary images; use images to weave the development and deep friendship between the two countries over the past 50 years; use new media technology to create a dialogue between Chinese and Spanish works of art in different times and spaces; use new media forums and broadcasts to create a dialogue between Chinese and Spanish works of art in different times and spaces; use new media forums and broadcasts to introduce the unique charm and mutual appreciation between China and Spain to domestic and international audiences; and produce a set of reports to show the origin and cooperation of Chinese and Spanish friendship cities, Shen added. 

"Through this event, the two countries will jointly open up a new dimension of cultural exchange between China and Spain. "

In his speech, Spain's Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, stated that this type of event allows the presentation of Spanish culture in China while also promoting the understanding of Chinese culture in Spain. Both China and Spain have a rich cultural heritage and a long history of success. The ties that bind both sides will be strengthened and developed in the coming years. Culture serves as a two-way communication and cultural bridge between Spain and China.

In his speech, Wu said that in the last 50 years, relations between China and Spain have developed in a healthy and fluid way, and the friendship between the two countries has been deepening. 

Both China and Spain are ancient civilizations with a long history of friendship, mutual attraction of civilizations and appreciation of peoples, and share a deep foundation of friendship between the two countries, Wu said.

Wu added that organizing the multimedia campaign "Cultural Journey to China and Spain" on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain has a positive significance, as it will further enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, promote humanistic exchanges between the two countries and deepen the friendship between China and Spain.

In his speech, Dezcallar congratulated the organization of the multimedia campaign "Cultural Journey through China and Spain" and said that the event would be a great way to promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries, especially young people. 

"This understanding is the best way for the two countries to understand each other, and it is an important way to further promote mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries."

The multimedia campaign "Cultural Journey through China and Spain" will continue throughout 2023, during which CGTN of the China Media Group (CMG) will launch a variety of media products and forums online and offline, including the documentary "From Beijing to Madrid," the China Documentary Festival: Screening Season in Spain, with a theme alluding to the Belt and Road, interactive museum immersion product "The meeting between the National Art Museum of China and the Prado Museum", and the China Documentary Festival: Screening Season in Spain, with a theme alluding to the Belt and Road.

The documentary film "From Beijing to Madrid", presents the stories that people from China and Spain have witnessed in various fields such as politics, economy, sports, education, art and literature, while showing the exchanges and integration that have taken place between both countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago.

CGTN, in collaboration with the National Art Museum of China and the Prado Museum of Spain, has launched an interactive product for new museum immersion media "The meeting between the National Art Museum of China and the Prado Art Museum ", which will use the new technology of the metaverse and will allow Chinese and foreign users to enjoy online the classic works of the Prado Art Museum in Spain and the National Art Museum of China in such a way that it will offer an interactive, immersive and multilevel experience, experiencing the convergence of Chinese and Spanish art paintings, as well as cultural fusion.

The live broadcast "China and Spain Culture Month" offers a rich audiovisual format and content perspective, while showing the charm of Spain and the deep meaning of exchanges and mutual appreciation and cooperation and development between both countries to Chinese and Spanish Internet users and viewers.
