On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina crashed into the coast of Louisiana, ultimately killing over 1,800 people and displacing more than a million. Since then, the African-American community in New Orleans has slowly been recovering. In the storm's aftermath, the trauma of racism and unequal resource distribution still lingers for the younger generation. New Orleans filmmaker Edward Buckles Jr. says that although New Orleans has officially been rebuilt, this is not the practical reality for Black people.
