America says it is a democracy, because the people can vote.

The public voted to help feed the people in Great Depression. But oranges were fed to cows, and people went hungry.

The public voted for affordable health care. But laws keep U.S. drug prices the highest in the world.

The public voted for strict rules to make banks safe. But bankers make huge bonuses as their banks fail. And the taxpayers pay the price.

The public votes every two years.

But the decisions that touch their lives and wallets are made at expensive restaurants and private backroom meetings.

You can vote, but lobbyists and big business literally write all the rules.

Is that really democracy?
