China successfully launched a new remote-sensing satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 2:27 p.m. on Friday.
The satellite was sent into orbit atop a Long March-4C carrier rocket.
As the fourth member of the Yaogan-34 family, the satellite will mainly be used for land survey, urban planning, land titling, road network design, crop yield estimation and disaster prevention and mitigation.
Friday's launch was the 470th mission of China's Long March rocket series.
