Expert: Tsai Ing-wen's U.S. stopover an 'unnecessary provocation'

China has condemned a decision by Taiwan's leader Tsai Ing-wen to stop in the United States on a trip to Central America. And it's urged the U.S. to end all official interaction with the island. Tsai landed in New York on March 30 – it's rumored she may meet with the U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on her return through Los Angeles. CGTN spoke to Marco Fernandes, a researcher at Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research in Brazil, about the trip.
