April rain to break historical record in north China's Inner Mongolia

North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has been seeing rainfall since Saturday, with more expected in the coming days as a cold wave sweeps through the region, according to the local meteorological bureau.

Authorities are expecting heavy rain, snow and a drop in temperature on Sunday and Monday and have advised residents to take precautions.

Areas including the southeast of Bayannur City, the central and eastern part of Ordos City are expected to see heavy rain and snow blizzards, with accumulated precipitation between 25 millimeters and 49.9 millimeters. For the south-central part of Baotou City, the north of Hohhot and the west-central part of Ulanqab City, precipitation could reach more than 50 millimeters, breaking the historical record in the same period.

Authorities are taking measures to ensure safety on highways, railways and civil aviation.
