The main structure of China's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank is completed in Qingdao, Shandong Province, March 31, 2023. /CMG

China completed construction of the main structure of the country's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank in Qingdao, Shandong Province on Friday.

The welding operation of the inner tank was completed and the project will start installing supporting facilities as the final stage.

The LNG storage tank has a capacity of 270,000 square meters, with a diameter of over 100 meters and height reaching 55 meters. Its height is as tall as a 20-story building and the area of the facility is equivalent to a soccer field.

According to the branch company affiliated to Sinopec Corp., multiple technological innovations were applied during the construction of this LNG storage tank.

The tank will be put into use in November.
