Hundreds of residents flee Seoul wildfire

Hundreds of residents were evacuated after a wildfire broke out on the slopes of Mount Inwangsan in central Seoul on April 2. The National Fire Agency deployed 15 helicopters, 85 rescue vehicles and more than 500 personnel to extinguish the fire. According to the local fire agency, the fire broke out at around 11:50 a.m. on a ridge on Mount Inwangsan. It then spread to the nearby Mount Bugak. The fire had burned an area equivalent to the size of approximately 30 football fields. No casualties had been reported as of 3:30 p.m. An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin once it has been completely extinguished.
