The "Eighty-Seven Immortals" and "Celestial Rulers" are two highly identical paintings with a Daoist theme. Why are they so identical? Did their creators plagiarize each another? Or is one original and the other counterfeit? Xu Beihong said that "Eighty-Seven Immortals" represented the pinnacle of Chinese art history, so it must be painted by Wu Daozi of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). But why do art connoisseurs disagree with him? Professor Li Song from Peking University explains.

CGTN's art aeries "The Song, Painted" is a virtual exhibition of Song Dynasty (960-1279) masterpieces currently housed in museums worldwide. Let's embark on a journey of cultural exploration, zooming in on art from the Song Dynasty and the ethos reflected in the paintings.
