Italian air traffic control workers staged a four-hour strike at 40 airports nationwide. Airlines are being required to re-book affected passengers and provide accommodations and meals in cases of extended delay. Passengers on canceled flights can also choose to be refunded, even on non-refundable fares. More than 200,000 travelers were affected. The aviation industry is struggling to cope with staff shortages and huge levels of disruption, while many airline workers are facing long, stressful hours and poor working conditions.
