April's full moon will shine in the sky at 12:35 Eastern Daylight Time on Thursday (00:35 Beijing Time, Friday), according to NASA.

It will be the first full moon of the spring season after the spring equinox on March 21. This month's full moon is also known as the "Pink Moon," but it won't look pink at all. The name comes from a springtime bloom of a wildflower known as moss phlox, or creeping phlox.

If stargazers happen to miss the full moon, don't worry, it will appear full for three days, including the day before and after its peak illumination, according to NASA.

A full moon occurs when the Earth moves "between" the moon and the sun, and there will be 13 full moons this year with one full moon occurring each month and a second full moon in August.

The next full moon will occur on May 5, said NASA.
