In an article published in February on U.S. platform Substack, investigative reporter and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh revealed that the U.S. partnered with Norway in a top-secret operation in June 2022 to plant remotely triggered explosives that took out three of the four Nord Stream gas pipelines three months later. Fabio Marcelli, head of the Institute for International Legal Studies (ISGI) under the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), said that if Hersh's bombshell report on the U.S. involvement in the Nord Stream blasts proves to be true, then the sabotage would be considered a terrorist attack. He also stressed the importance of dialog and efforts to promote peace against the backdrop of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
