French President Emmanuel Macron is arriving in Beijing to start his three-day visit to China. It comes after other important European leaders recently made the same trip, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, both meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This is Macron's first trip to China since he was reelected last June. Macron brings a delegation of some 60 business leaders, including the bosses of Airbus and EDF Renewable, along with a large group of artists and filmmakers, as he looks to solidify business and cultural ties with the world's second-largest economy.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said China hopes the visit can play a positive role in promoting the healthy development of China-EU relations and the discussions will be focused on deepening cooperation, as well as international and regional issues of common concern. CGTN's Dong Xue has her analysis.
