China welcomes and appreciates Saudi Arabia and Iran's efforts to improve bilateral relations, and stands ready to contribute Chinese wisdom and power to promote the security, stability and development of the Middle East Region, Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at a news conference on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Saudi Arabia and Iran signed an agreement for developing bilateral relations in Beijing. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang witnessed the signing ceremony.
