This year marks the 60th anniversary of China dispatching its first medical aid team abroad to Algeria in 1963. Since then, China has sent a total of 30,000 medical personnel to over 70 countries and regions across five continents. He Wenping, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of West Asian and African Studies, at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says that Chinese medical teams have been offering training courses to African medical staff and have made a great contribution to Africa's public health system.
