U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has met with the Taiwan region's leader Tsai Ing-wen in California. CGTN spoke to Ji Ye, the deputy dean of the Graduate Institute for Taiwan Studies at Xiamen University. Established in 1980, it's the oldest public academic institute dedicated to Taiwan studies in the world.
