In disregard of China's strong opposition, the U.S. government has permitted Tsai Ing-wen, a diehard of "Taiwan independence," to engage in political activities and meet with the U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during a "transit" trip through the country. But contrary to her expectation, she has met with strong opposition along her itinerary. Instead of being a political star, she is seen as a pest running across the street.
