Tie-dyeing is one of three traditional printing techniques with their origins in ancient China. It combines a number of different skills to produce beautiful patterns. One of the most famous tie-dye styles in China belongs to the Bai ethnic group living in Dali, Yunnan Province. Known for its authentic and natural look, in 2006 Bai tie-dyeing was included on the first list of the nation’s intangible cultural heritage. Zhoucheng in Dali is popularly called the home town of Bai tie-dyeing.
