Israel on Friday called on the UN Security Council to issue a condemnation against Lebanon and Hamas, a Palestinian armed movement ruling the Gaza Strip, for recent rocket fire against Israel, the Jerusalem Post reported on Friday.

Israel on Thursday accused Hamas of being behind a rocket attack launched at northern Israel from Lebanon.

Israel's Foreign Ministry said it reached out to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and called for condemnation from the UN Security Council.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry's media office earlier declared that Lebanon will file a complaint with the United Nations against Israel's airstrikes at dawn on areas in southern Lebanon.
