On March 17, part of the equipment related to the discharge of nuclear-contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant started operation.
This has sparked fear and outrage among local residents, particularly those in the fishing industry, as the discharge plan being pushed forward by the Japanese government goes against its international obligations.
