Heze, formerly known as Caozhou, is located in east China's Shandong Province and was named by the China Flower Association as the "peony capital of China" in 2012. The city is renowned for its ornamental peonies, which come in colors, 10 species, and 1,280 varieties, making it the world's largest center for peony breeding, cultivation, research, processing, export and ornamental display.
