Lei is a type of bronze ware used as a wine glass during the Shang and Zhou Dynasties (1600-256 BC) and the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods (770-221 BC.) A beautiful Lei vessel was unearthed at an archaeological site in Anhui that was found to be nearly 2,000 years old. The discovery proved that local people love drinking wine, and Lei used to be an important daily item in ancient life there. Named after this tradition, Lei Street serves as a landmark in the city.
