A "bird wave" is a flock of different species of birds that forage and travel together. Dandong City in northeast China's Liaoning Province is a stopping point on the "bird highway" – the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Numerous shorebirds flying from Australia and New Zealand stop here before moving on to their breeding homes in Siberia and Alaska.
