The United States and the Philippines have launched their largest combat exercises ever, which include live-fire drills. Responding to a question on the drills, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said exchange and cooperation between relevant countries should not target any third party and should be conducive to regional peace and stability. Teng Jianqun, research fellow at the China Institute of International Studies, says that the drills are simply one part of the U.S.'s strategy in the Asia-Pacific region, and countries in the region should avoid being manipulated by the U.S. into disputes.
