At least one person has died in a massive wildfire that broke out on a hill in the Nangok-dong district of the northeastern coastal city of Gangneung, located 240 kilometers east of Seoul in South Korea, on Tuesday.
The blaze destroyed approximately 70 homes and buildings and burned an area the size of 530 football fields.
The fire broke out on a hill in the Nangok-dong district in the seaside city, at around 8:30 a.m. amid the combination of high windand dry weather warnings issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) for the region earlier.
