Manchester City made a significant breakthrough in the UEFA Champions League with their 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the tournament's quarterfinals at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Man City have gone further than the quarterfinals before in the Champions League, but securing such a big win over heavyweights like Bayern has been very rare for the English club despite their Europe-top lineup in the past decade.
The good news for Bayern is that, though they allowed three goals, the process of Tuesday’s game was not as bad as the result seemed. If they make the correct adjustments, the German giants still have the chance to turn the tide in the second-leg game at home.
In the other game on Tuesday, Inter Milan beat Benfica 2-0 on the road, making it more likely for the two Italian clubs to meet in the Champions League semifinals.
