China's Ministry of Commerce has decided to launch a trade barrier investigation on Taiwan's trade restrictions against the Chinese mainland, it said on Wednesday.
On April 12, the Chinese commerce ministry issued a notice on the start of the investigation relating to the Taiwan region's measures to prohibit the import of mainland products.
These consist of 2,455 products, ranging from the agricultural, metals, chemicals, textiles and other sectors.
The ministry said it received a request on March 17 for investigations into these trade barriers by the China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CFNA); the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC); and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT).
