02:15

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Maoming City, located in the southwestern part of the Guangdong Province, on Tuesday. He visited Baiqiao Village in Genzi Town to inspect its well-known lychee plantation. Genzi Town is known as "China's No. 1 town for lychees." President Xi checked out the lychee plantation and the Longan and Lychee Specialized Cooperative, learning about how these fruits have helped enrich local livelihoods as well as the process of rural revitalization.

During his visit, President Xi asked about the protection of ancient trees, culture, and villagers' livelihoods, especially about their incomes. The weather, soil, and temperature in Genzi Town are unique to profit from the growth of lychees and longans. He Zhaoquan, who was born locally, has grown lychees for nearly four decades. He says these ancient trees are natural gifts that have generated income for generations. CGTN's reporter Cen Ziyuan has the story.
